Winds sweep aside Pluto’s mission to launch
Many people await the new exploration of the farthest known planet in the universe, Pluto. Pluto has an icy-cold atmosphere compared to the other planets, such as the gaseous planet of Saturn, Mercury, and our very own rocky planet of Earth. Researchers and scientist planned on launching a very expensive rocket to Pluto today, but it was stopped because of fast blowing winds. Uniquely, Pluto is the only planet to be discovered by an American citizen by the name of Clyde Tombaugh. Tombaugh’s discovery of the ninth planet was in 1930. The exploring device is worked by twenty-four pounds of plutonium, which presented a problem for some. About thirty people showed up to show their disfavor of the launch. The spacecraft has a chance of 1 in 350 for something to go wrong, where the possibility of the plutonium getting in the air.
Opinion: The article interested me because this plutonium-powered spaceship has a possibility of risking lives. I was not sure what plutonium could do, but I found that if…..
The article had some interesting fact about the planet Pluto that I was not aware of. For instance, I did not know that Pluto was discovered by an American Citizen in 1930. I honestly thought that all the planets were discovered before the 1900s. It seems very recent then I thought. Another fact that I found interesting is that some believe that there is a 10th planet called Xena. New Football Helmets May Cut injury risks
Summary: The sport of football is known for the big players and painful tackling between the two defensive teams, but it is also known for the dangerous rough play. Getting a concussion is an example of the outcome of playing this rough sport. A concussion can damage your brain, which then can affect your learning ability skills. That is bad news for college football players. The constant appearance of the concussions coming upon the football players encouraged the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center to research on the matter. They in-turn found that players wearing the helmets that guard your jaw and the temple area of the head had less concussions than the players who were sported in the regular helmets. The study’s main researcher, Micky Collins, stated that there is no helmet in existence that can completely be classified as a concussion-free helmet, but he will continue to get as close as possible. He also remarked that the time of healing from the concussion is a significant part of successful healing. The University of North Carolina was said to have used the Revolutionary helmets and the results came out that the concussions were fewer. This may spark an internationally new sporting equipment.
Opinion: The article caught my eye because football is one of my favorite sports, especially college! If there were anyone to blame for that, it would be my girlfriend. I believe that these new designed helmets are a splendid idea because no one would want to see their favorite player get trashed and knocked out of conscious. These new helmets would be essential for college players or high school players because the article stated that getting a concussion might also affect your learning skills. If a college student’s capable learning abilities were lowered because of their injury, it might lead them to slow down in a class, possiblily resulting in dropping out. These new design helmets could help worldwide athletes, as well students.
